Goodbye, Ex-Husband
💔💔💔My sister was miscarried, but she and my husband Ward accused me of being the one who caused it.
I was taken to court and slandered online, and Ward exposed my secrets on the internet.
Unable to cope, I swallowed a whole bottle of sleeping pills.
After I died, my soul overheard a conversation between Ward and Jeanie.
He said, "Babe, your plan to fake the car accident and pin it on Sandra was genius.
You not only got rid of her, but you also dealt with that child and inherited her fortune.
It was a perfect three-in-one move!"
Chapter 1 Miscarry
The phone suddenly rang.
"Sandra, I'm going to Ekhathe with some friends tomorrow. Can I borrow your car?"
Jeanie's voice came through the line, soft and pleading, each word like a dagger, stabbing at my ears.
After a pause, she added, "I'll have the driver come by to pick up the keys. Make sure you have them ready."
The line cut to a busy tone, and my trembling hands could barely hold onto the phone.
A cold sweat soaked my back, and in that moment, I realized: I was reborn. I was back on the day Jeanie wanted to borrow my car.
In my past life, she had borrowed my car to go on a trip with her friends, specifically choosing my Porsche because it would look great in photos.
Without a second thought, I'd agreed. After all, Jeanie, who I'd grown up with, had always been the center of my world, and I'd always pampered her.
But less than half a day later, I received a frantic call from her. Hearing her sobs, I rushed to dial 911 and sped to the hospital.
After her surgery, I stayed by her side all night, never leaving her.
But when she woke up, the first thing she said was, "Sandra, why did you kill my baby?"
I felt like I'd been struck by lightning and frantically tried to explain, "Jeanie, how could I hurt you? I didn't even know you were pregnant!"
But she cried and accused me, "I told you first that I was pregnant. Not only did you force me to drink iced coffee at the rest stop, but you also slammed on the brakes on the highway, causing me to miscarry!"
Bobbie Mayer then pulled up the footage from the dashcam and shouted, "Did you see that? It happened on this stretch of road. You were driving my wife and purposely slammed on the brakes!"
"You evil sister, how could you do this to her?" Bobbie's eyes blazed with fury, like he wanted to tear me apart.
Tears streamed down my face as I desperately defended myself, "It wasn't me! I didn't even drive, and I didn't buy her any coffee."
Just then, my husband Ward burst in, and I thought I'd finally found someone who would back me up.
But instead, he pointed at me and yelled, "Sandra, are you still denying it? Here are your bank records. You bought iced coffee. And I even heard you say yourself, 'I don't have children, and neither does my sister.'"
Chapter 2 Everything Prepared
"You only did this because you can't have children yourself, so you coldly killed your own sister's baby!" Ward said.
As soon as the words left his mouth, Jeanie broke down in loud, dramatic sobs. "Darling, this was supposed to be the first grandson of the Mayer family…"
The moment she said that, the hallway in the hospital erupted. People surrounded me, their eyes red with anger, almost as if they wanted to tear me apart.
Bobbie had completely lost his sanity. His hands gripped my neck tightly, pushing me toward the floor-to-ceiling windows at the end of the hall.
I struggled with everything I had, but no one stepped forward to help.
Soon after, the police arrived and took me away. Then came the court summons, followed by an avalanche of public outrage.
Unable to withstand the continuous blows, I made the decision to swallow pills.
After my death, my soul drifted toward my sister, only to see her lying in Ward's arms, laughing like she was basking in victory.
He said, "Darling, your plan to fake the car accident and pin it on Sandra was brilliant. Not only did it kill her, but it also got rid of that child and let you inherit her fortune. It was a perfect three-in-one move!"
What stung even more was the realization that the sister I had always loved like my own flesh and blood, Jeanie, was actually the illegitimate daughter of my father Jerrell Brock and his mistress.
My mother Leila Brock had been killed the same way. And all along, Jeanie had been plotting to take everything from me!
I opened my eyes, and the memories of my past life flooded away like a receding tide.
I gripped the car keys tightly in my hand, and my gaze grew steely. This time, I would make them pay for everything they had done.
I opened my laptop and brought up the surveillance equipment I had prepared: a tiny camera, a recorder, and GPS tracking. This time, I would gather all the evidence I needed.
Next, I went over the company's recent project files on the computer.
In my past life, I had trusted Ward too much, allowing him to interfere with the company's operations. This time, I would take control of the finances first.
I logged into the bank accounts and began transferring funds, spreading them across several private accounts. I also contacted the best lawyer I could find and secretly modified my will. This time, I would leave them with nothing.
Then, I called Bobbie. "Bobbie, do you remember that real estate project you mentioned? I happen to know an investor who's really interested. How about we meet tomorrow?"
I continued, "By the way, the investor loves playing poker. I heard your parents are quite good at it too. How about we meet at the Wonder Club?"
Sure enough, the moment he heard about the big project, Bobbie's tone immediately became friendly and eager. "Great! Thanks so much, Sandra. We're actually looking for investors for that project."
I sneered.
Chapter 3 Play the Game
I thought, 'Jeanie, let's see how you try to frame me this time.'
The next morning, I rented a car and went to the Mayer family's house to pick them up and take them to Wonder Club.
To make the scene more convincing, I hired a professional con artist to pretend to be an investor. I paid a hefty sum for this.
The man never stopped talking about the project, but every time Bobbie was about to sign the contract, he skillfully diverted the conversation.
Bobbie was practically sweating bullets, but the contract still hadn't been signed.
While Bobbie was getting tangled up, I sat with his mother Alyson Mayer and played poker. I deliberately set her up with a few good hands, and Alyson was all smiles as she played.
"Sandra, you're such a considerate girl," Alyson said, counting her chips. "Unlike Jeanie, always lounging around and running off at night."
When I didn't respond, she quickly caught herself. "Oh, dear, I shouldn't have said that."
A thought crossed my mind. 'So, Jeanie often went out at night… she must have been meeting Ward.'
Meanwhile, I found a companion for Bobbie's father Charles Mayer, and the two old men were thoroughly enjoying their game, with coffee and snacks coming in nonstop.
As I watched the family so easily falling into my plans, my smile grew more and more deliberate.
I took a moment to check the surveillance footage on my phone. The tiny camera had captured their entire conspiracy.
"Once Sandra is dead, we'll take control of Brock Group," Ward said, smugly holding Jeanie in his arms in their luxury car.
"But Sandra is so sharp. Do you really think we can pull this off?" Jeanie pouted.
Ward sneered. "Don't worry. Once she takes the sleeping pills, I'll make sure to add something extra. In a couple of days, she'll 'overdose and commit suicide.' The inheritance will naturally go to you."
I gripped my phone tightly, rage bubbling inside me. I wanted nothing more than to strangle these two traitors right there.
But I forced myself to stay calm and saved the evidence carefully. The more confident they were now, the harder they'd fall when the truth came out.
I composed myself and went back to the tea room to continue playing poker with the Mayer family, pretending everything was normal. We stayed until the lights of the evening flickered on.
By that time, the moment was right. I gave the "investor" a subtle signal.
"Mr. Mayer, let's postpone the contract discussion. A project this big requires careful consideration. Let's set up another meeting soon." With that, he quickly left.
Bobbie looked disappointed, but there was nothing he could do. Just then, my phone rang.
"Sandra, you need to come to the hospital… something's happened to me…" Jeanie's voice cracked with sobs.
I turned up the volume on my phone, making sure everyone could hear. "What? You're at the hospital? What happened?"
Chapter 4 Cause a Scene
"Sandra, please hurry…" On the other end of the line, Jeanie quickly broke down in tears.
I hung up the phone, then turned to the Mayer family, feigning panic. "Jeanie's in trouble and at the hospital. You should go too. I'll head over first."
Without waiting for a response, I jumped into the car and sped off.
I could've taken them with me, but I wondered, 'Why bother? How could Jeanie show her true colors if we were all together?'
When I got to the hospital, Jeanie was lying in a bed, her face pale.
The moment she saw me, she let out a gut-wrenching wail. "Sandra, you knew I was pregnant. Why would you do this to me?"
I played dumb, acting surprised. "Pregnant? I had no idea."
Shaking uncontrollably, with her eyes bloodshot, she accused me, "I told you first! Are you jealous because you haven't been able to have a child for five years? Is that why you… on the highway…"
Before she could finish, a crowd of people quickly gathered, and they started piling on, condemning me.
"How can someone like her be a sister…"
"How could she hurt her own sister like that…"
"No wonder she hasn't had a child after all these years of marriage. This must be karma!"
The murmurs felt like daggers, each word cutting into me. But only I saw the glimmer of satisfaction in Jeanie's eyes.
Just then, Ward stormed in. He glanced right past me and locked eyes with Jeanie, then slapped me hard across the face.
"Sandra, are you so jealous of Jeanie's pregnancy that you'd do something like this? You're worse than an animal!" he shouted. "You'd better apologize to Jeanie! And transfer all your shares of Brock Group to her!"
So this was their real plan. Brock Group had been my grandfather's life's work. Before Leila died, she left me 60% of the shares, while Jeanie only got 5%.
I had always thought Leila was biased and had been compensating for Jeanie. But I never knew that Jeanie was the illegitimate daughter of Jerrell and his mistress!
"All of Brock Group?" I sneered. "You really think you've got it all figured out."
Ward seethed with anger. "You caused Jeanie's miscarriage! It's more than fair that you're left with nothing! If your mother were alive, she'd never forgive you!"
Jeanie was crying even harder now, barely able to speak. "Ward, you're such a good man… I've already called Bobbie and the others. They'll be here soon…"
Before she could finish, Bobbie and his parents rushed in.
Jeanie immediately rolled off the bed and threw herself at Bobbie's legs, crying uncontrollably. "Darling, it's all my sister's fault… She forced me to go for a drive today, and because of her, I lost our baby!"
Chapter 5 Slap
Jeanie said, "She drove me onto the highway early this morning. I told her I was pregnant and didn't want to go, but she insisted it would be fine… Then, at the rest stop, she bought me an iced coffee and deliberately slammed on the brakes on the highway…"
She continued, "That's how… that's how I lost our first child…"
Bobbie listened, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles cracked.
"You're saying today?" Alyson spoke up suddenly. "But wasn't Sandra…"
"Mom!" Bobbie interrupted sharply. "Let her finish."
His face had turned ashen, his eyes locked on Jeanie, but she was too wrapped up in her own drama to notice anything.
"Darling, our baby was already a month along…" Jeanie clung to Bobbie's legs, crying as if her heart would break. "You have to get justice for our child!"
She wiped away her tears and tried to continue her lies, but when her eyes met Bobbie's cold stare, she faltered, her heart skipping a beat.
She hesitated, then tried to act sweetly. "Darling, you… you don't believe me, do you?"
"Are you sure it was this morning that Sandra took you for a drive and caused the miscarriage?" Bobbie's voice was as icy as the winter winds.
"Yes!" Jeanie clung to Bobbie tighter. "Sandra drove me out early this morning. We even posted about it on our Ins!"
Ward immediately jumped in, "That's right. I saw it with my own eyes. Sandra drove out first thing this morning. She said she was going out with Jeanie."
Seeing this, Jeanie grew even bolder, grabbing Alyson's hand. "Mom, this is your first grandson!"
Watching the Mayer family's angry reactions, I saw a flash of satisfaction in Jeanie's eyes. She gave me a provocative glance.
And then, in a blink, a sharp slap rang out.
Jeanie staggered, stunned, and covered her face in disbelief. "Darling, why did you hit me? It was Sandra who killed our child! You should be hitting her!"
Before she could finish speaking, another slap landed, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.
Ward rushed to help her up. "Bobbie, you've gone too far! Your wife just miscarried, and you're hitting her? What kind of man does that?"
The crowd around us began to murmur in disapproval. "Yeah, his wife's been wronged, and instead of defending her, he's hitting her? What kind of husband is that?"
Jeanie clung to Bobbie's shirt, sobbing uncontrollably. "Darling, it's our first baby. I'm already heartbroken. Why are you hitting me…"
Ward added fuel to the fire. "I heard Sandra say with my own ears that she'd never let Jeanie have a child before her!"
As I watched this familiar scene play out, I realized they were trying to pull the same stunt again. But this time, I was ready.
I stepped forward and said loudly, "You say I caused your miscarriage, but from morning till now, I've been at Wonder Club, playing poker with the Mayer family!"
